Our Work
The Heythrop Institute supports and sponsors research in theology, philosophy and allied disciplines.
Through its connection with London Jesuit Centre, it also provides adult theological education.
Research seminars
Our twice-termly research seminars in theology and philosophy aim to cultivate a lively intellectual home for philosophers and theologians across London. They are usually held at London Jesuit Centre, where both advanced and early-career researchers are invited to present their ideas, and generate discussion.
Workshops
Our annual workshop in theology and philosophy provides an opportunity for sustained exploration of themes at the intersection of these sister-disciplines.
Laishley Lectures
In honour of the former Heythrop Lecturer Joe Laishley SJ, this annual lecture is organised in collaboration with alumni from Heythrop College, and delivered by well-known figures from within the theological world.
Adult Education
As part of London Jesuit Centre, Heythrop Institute members offer courses and events on a wide range of topics: from ancient Greek philosophy to contemporary queer theory; from 4th century Christology to 21st century ecological theology. We also support and resource religious educators in the Province.
The Heythrop Journal
The Dean of the Heythrop Institute, John Moffatt, is also editor of The Heythrop Journal, which operates out of London Jesuit Centre.
